Our new office at the TGZ Ilmenau

Over the past year and a half, the eCommerce Brigade has developed positively thanks to a focused, well-organised and respectful approach to work. Against this backdrop, as we are keen to pass on our wealth of eCommerce experience to young people, we have decided to start looking for a new office near the Technical University in Ilmenau…   

Ilmenau, a university town in the Thuringian Forest 

In order to harness the momentum generated by the close integration of scientific and technologicaland practical work, and to pass on our expertise in software development for the eCommerce sector to young people, we have decided to relocate our headquarters to Ilmenau, the home town of the Technical University, and to move into a modern and larger office there. 

We are also very fond of Ilmenau because it was there that Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, the German poet, playwright and naturalist whom we hold in such high esteem, lived and worked from 1776 to 1831, and in 1780, in the shelter on Ilmenau’s local hill, the Kickelhahn, and left it to posterity by scribbling it in pencil on the wooden wall of the ‘Goethehäuschen’.      

TGZ – The Ilmenau Technology and Start-up Centre

Whilst looking for suitable premises, we immediately found what we were looking for at the Technology & Start-up Centre. 

Right from our very first discussion about the available premises, we felt that there was a positive, uplifting energy here.

Anniversary celebration at the TGZ

At this year’s summer party, on 26 August, we were finally able to get a first-hand impression of it. 

Under the motto “35 Years of TGZ Ilmenau / 15 Years of auftakt”, the TGZ management, with the support of numerous volunteers, organised an eventful afternoon for staff from the start-ups based at the centre, for those interested in setting up a business, and for prominent representatives from the worlds of business and regional politics. The focus was on the 35th anniversary of the Technology and Start-up Centre and the 15th anniversary of the ‘auftakt’ start-up forum, which promotes entrepreneurship amongst students at the Technical University of Ilmenau.    

As well as formal speeches, the programme also included inspiring talks and creative workshops designed to impart knowledge. 

The organisers offered a refreshing perspective on the interplay between creativity and genius by giving artistically gifted entrepreneurs the opportunity to showcase their artwork.

The summer party at the TGZ was also rounded off with a range of culinary delights, including Thuringian grilled sausages and a host of other lovingly prepared dishes, as well as drinks.

A decision that was an easy one for us to make

For us, who at the time of the summer party were still ‘prospective tenants’ looking at premises at the TGZ, this entertaining event served as a positive catalyst for our upcoming decision. 

Ultimately, what made the difference for us was the friendliness, the expertise and the genuine commitment to customer service shown by the team led by Rüdiger Horn, the managing director of TGZ, literally opened every door in the building for us, so that we could get a complete picture of the future home of our eCommerce brigade.

It was therefore only natural that we should take this significant step and rent these very attractive and well-located premises.

Thanks to its excellent infrastructure and favourable location, close to the Ilmenau University of Technology campus, the Technology and Start-up Centre acts as a recognised link between academia and industry.

For the eCommerce Brigade, it is therefore not only a provider of modern premises, but also a valued partner offering a wide range of opportunities for networking with the start-upsas well as with the numerous technology-oriented companies based in Ilmenau and the wider region, and, of course, with the Technical University.

We would like to thank the TGZ team for their active support and look forward to spending time together and working in partnership.
